Are you rewarding the creators of social media content generated around your company? If not, you should be!

Recently, Aaron Schwartz posted video from his stay at a Marriott Renaissance Ocean Suites in Aruba on MySpace and YouTube. The general manager of the Marriott found out and offered him a free 7 night stay, according to ABC News.

The original online video garnered the hotel free publicity and word of mouth. But the 7 night stay earned the hotel earned media nationwide. Overall, the hotel’s costs are minimal. It’s a win-win for everyone.

What are you going to do to reward social media-minded customers? Share your ideas in the comments.

That’s awesome! I think brands should do a heck of a lot more of this. Searching for YouTube for their brands should be a high priority to begin with, but rewarding folks for saying great things about their companies is simply smart branding and PR.
