Social networks update their sites frequently. So, for the minor updates, I’m just going to combine the updates into one post so the rest of the week can be taken up by more substantial news. Major updates still might get their own posts. This first edition includes updates from the past couple of weeks.
Here we go:
FriendFeed added a semi-public room to their room offerings and a “best of” feature that’s personalized according to your friend network.
SocialVibe now offers a MySpace application.
LinkedIn added a news sharing application.
del.icio.us releases Firefox 3 from beta.
Facebook created a Friend Suggestor.
YouTube launched Reporter Channels.
Veoh updated their pages with a new version of their flash player (not rolled out to all users yet).
Socialmedian completed the following updates on June 9, 2008.
- Fixed our email alerts so that you should no longer see any duplicates in the top 5 stories in your networks.
- Your “mypage” now features your clipped stories. This is an easy way for you to present what you think are the hottest stories that other people should check out. Think of it almost like your own version of the drudgereport. You can also change the name of your mypage — for instance, mine is “Goldberg Says Read This!” We’re going to be enhancing this even more in the near future, enabling you to have featured stories, and then widgetize this so you can put it anywhere.
- Edit your mini-profile and extended profile from settings
- Added a two-tabbed view for “hot right now” feed items in your news feed — “hot right now” & “recent”. This presents a once-daily item in your news feed with recent/hot news from each news network you belong to. We’re still working on the design here, but it’s already a big improvement.
- Added tag clouds for popular topics, recent topics, rising fast, and ABC…XYZ.
Blogger added a Blog List, which will help users create blogrolls.
Plurk released an API but it’s not supported.
